ABOUT US

Cheryl Kasper received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Monmouth University then went on to receive her Master of Social Work Degree from Rutgers University in 1996.  She is currently a New Jersey Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Certified School Social Worker. She is also a member of the National Association of Social Workers.

Cheryl has been working with children and adolescents for over 15 years. She began her career as a counselor at Ocean's Harbor House where she worked with adolescents who were runaways, in crisis, and abused. During that time, she became certified through the Sexual Abuse & Assault Program at St. Francis Counseling Center in Brant Beach, NJ. She has spent time volunteering in Ocean County to assist victims of rape and sexual assault.

Cheryl has extensive training in crisis intervention. She worked at Kimball Medical Center- Psychiatric Emergency Screening Service (PESS) as a Psychiatric Screener and Child/Family Clinician for over 9 years. She holds many certifications in crisis and emergency response.

Cheryl is currently working in the Jackson Township School District as a School Social Worker. She is on the District's Crisis Team and responds to any school in the District that experiences a traumatic loss or crisis.  In addition, she has written social skills curriculum for the Jackson Township School District. Cheryl has much experience working with a wide array of mental health disorders, child and family issues, sexual abuse, and trauma. She has also been trained in Sandplay Therapy.

 

David Lavezzo, M.A.

David Lavezzo obtained a bachelors degree in Special Education, as well as Master’s degree in Education, both from Georgian Court University.

David has extensive experience working with children with emotional and behavioral disabilities. Currently he teaches a self-contained behavioral disabilities program for teenage students. In addition to a strong academic focus, this program emphasizes the importance of appropriate social skills in and out of school. These essential social skills are accentuated and strictly reinforced throughout school day.

In addition, David also has over ten years experience working in several capacities, including assistant director, at an Ocean County based specialized summer program for children and adolescents with ADHD, Asperger’s syndrome, and other’s with social skills deficits. Again, this program offers substantial emphasis to the continued development of essential social skills to create stronger, healthier relationships with peers and adults.
